DAY 3: Rain can't quash competitors' spirit on third day of the Ponoka Stampede

It was a soggy state of affairs for the Ponoka Stampede's third day, but there was still plenty of action for audiences to enjoy.

Unfortunately, the rain did prevent the WPCA chuckwagon races from taking place, and the midway closed at 6 p.m. but singer Meghan Patrick's concert was still scheduled to round out the evening.

Besides taking in the regular rodeo categories throughout the afternoon, audiences enjoyed the junior roughstock competition as well.

In terms of results for the day, Weston Timberman of Columbus, MT landed 86 points in bareback for the day's top spot in that category, while Lindsay Sears of Nanton. AB. was first in ladies' barrel racing with a time of 17.58 seconds.

Jordan Spears of Caldwell, ID. landed 83.75 points in bull riding for the top spot, while James Perrin of Maple Creek, SK. ended up with 83.25 points for first in saddle bronc today.

Jace Melvin of Fort Pierre, SD. grabbed the top spot in steer wrestling with a total aggregate of 24.6 seconds, and Haven Meged of Miles City, MT. was first in tie-down roping with a total aggregate of 16.9 seconds.

Finally, team ropers Kaleb Driggers of Stephenville, TX., and Junior Nogueira of Lipan, TX.. took first place today with a total aggregate of 11.8 seconds.

On June 28, the Ponoka Stampede Downtown Parade kicks off at 10 a.m. and it's Kids Day at the grounds.
