Byemoor holds Bull-a-rama

The Byemoor Bull-a-Rama was held at the Endmoor Arena on April 19.

Hosted annually by the Sullivan Lake West Agricultural Society, the event’s 2024 iteration continued to be popular with the stands full of spectators.

The Byemoor event was the third stop of the season for the Bull Riders Canada tour and featured 19 up-and-coming as well as journeymen cowboys from both sides of the border on the professional circuit.

Kicking off around 7 p.m., the event featured an introduction to the cowboys, followed by the singing of O Canada by Heidi Hebert as flag bearer Riggin Buchwitz hoisted the Maple Leaf.

Things got off to an inauspicious start once the bull-riding action commenced; it wasn’t until veteran cowboy Fabian Dueck took his turn as the sixth man out that there was a scoring ride. Dueck earned 78 points on his first ride of the evening.

Another veteran, Armando Davila, from Red Willow, ended up scoring a 76.5-point ride.

Cole Wagner, as the ninth man out, jumped to the lead of the pack with an 83-point ride aboard the bull Chocolate Whiskey.

Edson, Alta., cowboy Tristan Manning finished off the first set of riders with a 79-point ride.

The second round only had one scoring ride, with Dusty Golden picking up an 81-point ride.

While the five scoring riders automatically went to the final round, three others were drawn to make a top eight.

Forestbburg cowboy Keaton Martz got the scoring going early, and jumped into the lead, with an 83.5-point ride.

Following Martz, Dueck, and Dusty Golden both scored points on their rides. however, it was the last rider of the evening who won it all.

Cole Wagner picked up 85.5 points on the back of bull Classy Nasty, which jumped his combined point count for both rides to 168.5, 4.5 points ahead of Golden.

Following the bull-riding action, a dance was held in the arena.
